Hello again...what about 'Ale Guli Mane' - this was a game which I used to play during my childhood and had a wooden board with 'n' number of pouches. We used to play this game with some kind of seeds in it. I know I sound very vague but maybe you can find out more info on this game...
Very interesting blog on such a unique topic. If I may add to your list, we (Enlighten Games) have recently come out with a game on Chanakya, the famous Indian economist. The game is called Chanakya's Chakkravyuh and its website is chanakyaschakkravyuh(dot)com. It focuses on creating passive income, and has various sutras from the Arthashastra used in the game. Thought this might be interesting to all of you.
Nice blog!! I love to play ale guli mane and chauka bhara. Can some one explain what are chang bu etc in chauka bhara? I have been playing it since 15 years and have not come across such terms except gatta. Will be glad if you ppl explain.
I loved coming across the site. I wanted to buy 20 games as a return gift for my children's bday party. though I am sure these games cost a lot my budget is only rs. 200-250. I don't know if you can help me. Pleas let me know.
Th traditional board games are innumerable. Even the illiterate in villages have been playing thses games. These are not only for recreation butvalue oriented .I have publishes a book on Folk games of Tamilnaduuu tracing many games played in Tamilnadu.
